As soon as we hit the barn Miss E. is ready to ride … she actually cries if she can’t sit on Miss Scout first. And when it comes time to take turns and let mommy or big sis have a ride she does everything in her power to get back on there. You can see she picks up the mounting stool as soon as we start leading our horse to the arena … and then proceeds to chase her around carrying the stool, making it obvious she’s ready for her turn. Note that she’s a lot farther away (and perfectly safe) from the horse than it appears in the photos. When that fails, she’ll usually give up and resort to digging in the dirt.
Adeline on Miss Scout is on the left, and to the right we have a little mini horse that comes to play at our barn once in awhile. He’s a teeny tiny little guy!
And the girls adore giving treats of all kinds to Miss Scout … favorites are carrots, peppermints and her special oat horse cookies.
This is one of Miss Scout’s pasture mates who was calling out to her as she walked by. “Come back and play with me!!”
Now these images are my reply to all the questions I get such as, “How do your girls always look so picture perfect all the time?” They don’t!! They love the dirt and during the summer come inside at the end of the day with black feet and little bodies covered in dirt and little girl sweat. So, here is evidence of my not so pristine baby digging in the dirt (and, yes, even eating some as seen around her tiny lips). And another one of Miss E. brushing her horse with her nana – grooming our horse is one of the best parts about being at the barn.
