Photoshop Actions Sun Flare How To Elements Outdoor Backlight Family

Forgive me for personal a little personal photo share. All images processed with Fresh Wonderland 2, Fresh and Wonderland (or for PSE users, Fresh Wonderland and Fresh Wonderland 2).

After visiting my dad (who happens to live too far away from us out in the country for our likes, but has the special benefit of passing through beautiful spots to play and take photos), we saw this gorgeous sun light washing over these fields filled with wildflowers and I knew we had to stop for some photos. I rarely go anywhere without my camera bag, always have the tripod in the car and just happened to be wearing decent clothes (who cares that I hadn?t even brushed my hair that morning, and had been wearing those clothes for two days in a row??).

Time is just flying by as these girls pass through their babyhood and kindergarten years at a speed that makes me dizzy and left wondering how they grew so big so quickly. And I just want to stop time and soak it all in. My baby girl turns one next week – ONE! I just can’t believe it. The moments playing and spinning in the grass, nursing my baby with the summer sun warming us, walking hand in hand down the path with my husband as we watch our little girls play in front of us – both of us still in shock that we, in fact, have two kiddos (do you ever feel like you are just a kid playing grown up some days and wonder how the heck time flew by so quickly?). Oh, just treasure these moments! I’m a little sentimental today … so please forgive me for the personal post if it’s not your thing! πŸ™‚

And, yes, Scott was there too but didn’t get in many of the photos for once … some shots of me and the girls were taken with the tripod and remote, and a few of the nursing shots were my “voice command walking tripod.” I get all the settings right, point the camera in exactly the right spot for the composition I want and then yell, “Do NOT move and do NOT touch any of my settings …” Then I get into place and yell back at the walking, voice command tripod (aka, my sweet and tolerant husband), “Okay, now!” LOL! Taken with a Nikon D700 and a 35mm 1.4G. Baby Eliza’s cute little tank and ruffle pants from my good friend, Ashley, at Lil Blue Boo – fabulously adorable girls clothes that are super comfy and realistic for playing and being a kid.

For those not digging the personal post, no worries … I have some fabulous tutorials and teaching posts coming next week for everyone! So, keep an eye on the site here and on our Facebook page for good things on the way – I’ve been hard at work behind the scenes!!

oh.em.gee. Annie, these photos are all so incredibly beautiful…beyond gorgeous. and, i love your personal post, it makes you real and not just a “cyber” friend! it’s so wonderful that you got to spend such great time with all of your family and got a super photo session out of it, too!

  8. This post speaks right through my soul. I too carry my camera for impromptu sessions like these as they are often the best. I feel as you do about your growing children as I have one who turned a year, one who just finished kindergarten, one turning 5, and another turning 12 in the fall. Time passes all too fast! Your images remind me how blessed I am to stop and capture the beauty of the love of family. You have a beautiful family and the warmth in your heart shows in each image πŸ™‚

  9. How could anyone not love a personal post from you?! I love them all. Every single one. What delicious back lighting! And, there is nothing sweeter than a Momma nursing her baby. I need more pictures of me nursing my son, who is now 15 months old and is perfectly content to block out the world (even his 3 year old sister’s loud playing) to drink his Momma’s milk. <3

  10. These are breathtakingly beautiful. What a wonderful keepsake of this fleeting time in your life. Love it.

I am from Grants Pass and live on the east coast, now. I miss Oregon and love that we just visited Seaside. Cant wait to run your actions and magic on my Oregon Coast photos. I will share soon :):)

  20. Hi, I have Photoshop Elements 7.0. I haven’t had any courses on it, though I have bought a couple books. Still I can’t seem to navigate my way around it at all. (I do use Microsoft Picture It all the time). My question is, if I purchased your Essentials actions would I be able to use them since I can’t seem to use Photoshop? I really want to learn it but I feel like it’s all Chinese to me right now. Thanks in advance for your reply.

  21. There are some people who don’t want personal stories just factual info re processing and actions however I believe that you have achieved an excellent mix, Annie. The photos are beautiful and touching – telling a story. You could afterall have posted similar photos that you had taken on a shoot of another family but identifying it as a personal time makes it more interesting. Fantastic!

  22. Hi there, love these photos! Amazing.

Question, how do you purchase your photoshop actions? I have been looking all over your blog, but can’t see where you can add them to a cart?

    • Hi, Simone! On each product page you’ll find an Add To Cart button (most are found at the bottom of the pages). Go to Photoshop Actions, select the drop down menu item you wish to look at and then add to cart from there. πŸ™‚ There is also a bundles page with Add To Cart buttons. After your purchase you’ll receive an immediate download. πŸ™‚

  23. Your photos are so amazing. I have a granddaughter who will turn 2 on Sept. 8th and I feel the same way. Where has the time gone? I cherish every second I get to spend with my sweet little girl. Your and your family are beautiful.

  24. Beautiful blog you have here and a beautiful family might I add!…I was just wondering, I have a Nikon D80 camera and can’t seem to get a good debt of feild. What is a good lens to purchase that will do the job like in your photos?…..P.S. I love the blog. Its so helpful. Thank you!
